August “Augie” Lea Brewer, 87, of De Soto died Oct. 8, 2019, in De Soto. Mr. Brewer and his wife operated McKinnley Jewelers for 22 years. He loved music, coin collecting and working in his shop. Born Aug. 22, 1932, in Potosi, he was the son of the late Lena (Eye) and Raymond Brewer.
He is survived by his wife: Carole May (Burns) Brewer; four sons: Forest (Glenda) Craig Brewer of Potosi, Lonnie (Carol) Brewer of De Soto, Mike Brewer of Irondale and Steven Brewer of Potosi: three daughters; Sherry (Richard) Davison of Avon, N.Y., Kathy (Dennis) Benfield of Joplin and Brenda Brewer of Joplin; and a sister: Marilyn (LeRoy) Waggoner of Arnold.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Valerie Chazelle.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today, Oct. 11, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 Main St., in De Soto. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
