Arley Vest, 78, of Cartersville, Ga., died Aug. 11, 2017, in Cartersville. Mr. Vest was an author, an entrepreneur and a business owner. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Born Dec. 24, 1938, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Sophie (Rohrbach) and Charles Edward Vest.

He is survived by his wife: Jill (Keimig) Vest; a son: Derek Vest; two daughters: Mandi (Josh) Marisko and Tara Vest; two brothers: Bill and Bob Vest; a sister: Glenda Cowart; five grandchildren: Mallory, Addison, Sophie, Madison and Bella; a great-grandchild: Della; and his former wife: Liz Lirette Vest.

He was preceded in death by a son: Arlen Vest.

A visitation is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, in Cartersville, followed immediately by a celebration of life service officiated by Father Joseph Morris and Father Juan Anzora. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Owen Funeral Home.

Robert C. ‘Butch’ Malone, 70, House Springs

Robert C. “Butch” Malone, 70, of House Springs died Aug. 12, 2017. Mr. Malone owned P&M Excavating and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed travelling and scuba diving.

He is survived by his significant other: Toni Tilton of French Village; two sons: Robert (Lisa) Malone II and Aaron (Linda) Malone, both of House Springs; a daughter: Molly (Anthony) Malone Atkins of Imperial; two brothers: Gerald (Martha) Malone of St. Clair and John Malone of Dittmer; three sisters: Nancy Smith of Cedar Hill, Pamela (Jack) Ramsey of House Springs and Linda Partney of High Ridge; four grandchildren: Robert Malone III, Carli Malone and Ryan and Samantha Malone; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were Aug. 17 at Chapel Hill Mortuary. Burial with full military honors was at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Cedar Hill. Arrangements were under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary, Cedar Hill.
