Arlene Mae Marschel, 82, of Herculaneum, formerly of Hillsboro, died July 15, 2016, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mrs. Marschel was a retired real estate agent and was named Jefferson County Realtor of the Year in 2000. She was a fifth-generation member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Otto.
Mrs. Marschel was a member of the Mastodon State Historic Site Committee and a former member of many other committees and groups. She was involved in the effort to develop the Sandy Creek Historic Site and worked with the Nature Conservancy of Missouri to protect the Victoria Glade. She was born May 11, 1934, in House Springs, the daughter of the late William and Emilie (Riechmann) Danneman.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years: Alvin Marschel of Herculaneum; a daughter: Rhonda (Michael) Johnson of Festus; two sons: Dean (Susan) Marschel of Spring, Texas, and Lynn (Lisa) Marschel of Ste. Genevieve; a daughter-in-law: Carol Marschel of Newburgh, Ind.; a sister: Shirley (the late George) Christ of Hillsboro; 11 grandchildren: Stephanie (Matt) Whitehead, Scott (Aubrey) Johnson, Shawna (Billy) Rigney, Adam (fiance Teresa) Marschel, Andrew Marschel, Jennifer (David) Trunk, Lindsey Marschel, Lacey Marschel, Abby Marschel, Alex Marschel and Emma Marschel; and four great-grandchildren: Lauren, Kinley, Olivia and Will
She was preceded in death by a son: Larry Marschel; a sister: Ada (the late Paul) Kneff; and a granddaughter: Lauren Johnson
Visitation is at 9 a.m. and a memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 6550 Old Missouri 21, in Imperial, officiated by the Rev. Jarold Rux, the Rev. Kyle Castens and the Rev. Charles Schultz. Burial is in the St. Paul’s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
