Alvin Paul Gildehaus, 85, of Cedar Hill died Jan. 15, 2019, at his home. Mr. Gildehaus was retired and had worked in maintenance at the Northwest R-1 School District. He was a member of the Morse Mill Baptist Church and the Missouri National Guard.
Born Nov. 24, 1933, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Marie Elizabeth Kernbeck and August Paul Gildehaus.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Mary Moore of Cedar Hill; six children: Jane Kreienheder, Susan Krejci and Donna Welch Wells, all of St. Louis, as well as Diana (Jeffery) Folk of St. Clair, Rebecca (Charles) Wilder of Cedar Hill and Jeffery (Cricket) Ramsey of Hephzibah, Ga.; a brother: Raymond Gildehaus of Gray Summit; a sister: Mary Ann Grill of St. Louis; six grandchildren: Charles Andrew (Christy) Wilder of Springfield, Timothy W. Wilder of Cedar Hill, Elizabeth L. Folk of St. Clair, Hannah M. Folk of St. Clair, and Fawn (Mica) Ferguson and Michael (Danielle) Ramsey, both of Hephzibah, Ga.; and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five siblings: Leona Heil, Evelyn Garman, Marilyn Gildehaus, Laverne Stroder and Richard Gildehaus.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Morse Mill Baptist Church, 6955 Hwy. B, in Dittmer. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the church, officiated by Roger Clark. Burial will be in the Local Cedar Hill Cemetery.
