Alsie E. Rinehart Bennett Engle, 81, Alton

Alsie E. Rinehart Bennet Engle, 81, of Alton died Oct. 7, 2021, at Regency Care in Springfield, Ill. Mrs. Engle was an administrative assistant. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Moose Lodge. She enjoyed playing bingo traveling, and most of all, spending time with family. Born Feb. 21, 1940, in Saluda County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Kenny L. and Mary Jessie Corley Rinehart.

She was preceded in death by two husbands: David C. Bennett and Orville E. Engle.

She is survived by three children: Robert D. (Brenda) Bennett of Fort Lawn, S.C., Mark K. (Mary) Bennett of Springfield, Ill., Timothy J. (Kathy) Bennett of Arnold; three stepchildren: Laura (Dean) Garrett, Georgia Rands and Jenny (Don) Hyman, all of East Alton; a sister: Kathryn R. Miller of Batesburg, S.C.; a sister-in-law: Janet M. Rinehart of Batesburg, S.C.; eight grandchildren: John (Cassie) Virgin, Tony (Becky) Virgin, Andrew, Jacob, Patrick, Nicholas and Matthew Bennett and Angel (Bennett) Mitchell; three step-grandchildren: Melissa Romack, Gage Hyman, Kelly Hyman; six great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

She also was preceded in death by a grandson: David W. Bennett; two brothers: Kenneth Leon (Faye Morris) Rinehart and George Rinehart; a brother-in-law: Rayford Miller; a stepson-in-law: Bud Rands; and several siblings-in-law.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Saturday (Oct. 16) at Godfrey First United Methodist Church, 1100 Airport Road, in Godfrey, Ill. A luncheon will follow at the church. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Moose charities, 155 S. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home in Springfield, Ill.
