Alma “Marie” Bishop, 79, of De Soto died Nov. 18, 2020, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Bishop worked in medical claims for the General American Life Insurance Co. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in New Athens, Ill., and a member of De Soto Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling and quilting. Born Dec. 21, 1940, in Kewanee, she was the daughter of the late Eunice (Evans) and William L. Jenkins.

She is survived by three children: Katheryn (David) Higgins of Pompano Beach, Fla.; Karen Fromme of Paragould, Ark. and Billy (Yvonne) Leach of Bonne Terre; seven siblings:

David, Gary, Peggy, Judy, Janet, Maxine and Brenda; five grandchildren: Melanie (Roland Steen) Higgins, William Higgins, Rebecca (Mike Simon) Fromme, Raymond (Val Petro) Fromme and Jordan (Alexis Lige) Leach; and two great-grandchildren: Roman and Baron.

She was preceded in death by five siblings: Nelda, Robert, Ruth, Josephine and Elton; and a son-in-law: Bill Fromme.

A celebration of life will be at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, De Soto.
