Alice Marie Laiben, 96, of Ironton, formerly of Herculaneum, died Jan. 6, 2020, in Ironton. Mrs. Laiben was a graduate of Crystal City High School and worked as a secretary for American National Insurance Co. in Crystal City. She enjoyed music and dancing, and appreciated time spent with friends and family. Born Nov. 5, 1923, in Crystal City, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Mae Agatha (Decker) Browne.
She is survived by two sons: David R. (Carla) Laiben and Gregg R. (Dana) Laiben, both of Kansas City; four grandchildren: Angela Laiben, Jonathan Laiben, Allison Briley and Koby Radford; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Lorraine Mae “Brownie” Smart; two brothers: William A. Browne and Robert D. Browne; and a grandson: Jacob David Laiben.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Presbyterian/Methodist Cemetery in Festus. Memorials may be made to the Mercy Health Foundation-Jefferson. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
