Alice Dorothy (Zieger) Mayes, 82, Arnold

Alice Dorothy (Zieger) Mayes, 82, of Arnold died Jan. 22, 2022, in Arnold. Mrs. Mayes was an accomplished cake decorator and candy maker. She owned and operated her own cake and candy supply store in St. Peters for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Imperial. She enjoyed quilting, playing pitch and pinochle, and puzzling. Born Jan. 5, 1940, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Agnes (Westman) Zeiger.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years: George Franklin Mayes II.

She is survived by four children: Mary Filla of Montgomery City, Daniel (Missy) Mayes of Lake St. Louis, Alison (Don) Barnes of Wentzville and Dianne (Gary) Waigand of Arnold; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Ann (Tom) Schwab.

A celebration of life will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 19) at Wentzville Christian Church, 1507 Hwy. Z.
