Campfield, Ada

Ada Mae Campfield, 81, of Herculaneum died March 26, 2018. Mrs. Campfield was a graduate of Festus High School and worked at E & D Style Shop in Festus as a young adult. Quick-witted, a bit short-tempered and very generous, she enjoyed worshiping God with her church family and lavishing love on her family. She was born during a blizzard on Jan. 8, 1937, in Hematite, the daughter of the late Edmond Harvey and Ora (Zeltner) Holdinghausen.

She is survived by her “De Soto boyfriend,” husband Lloyd Campfield, whom she married on Christmas Eve in 1954; a son: David (Kathy) Campfield of Festus; two 

Daughters: Denise (Don) Burrell of Strafford and Dana Dean of Herculaneum; six grandchildren: Jessica Campfield, Lauren (Drew Frasco) Campfield, Brooks Burrell,  Claire Burrell (Philip) Herzog, Carley Dean and Derek Dean; a great-granddaughter: Aleeya Spence; and four siblings: Betty (the late Ray) Rode of Herculaneum, Wayne (Sharon) Holdinghausen of California, Gayle (Al) Sherman of Crystal City and Gene (Ruth Ann) Holdinghausen of O’Fallon; and their families. 

Visitation is scheduled at 2 p.m. and a memorial service at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Terry Crank.  Memorials may be made to the Heart of The Apostles Fellowship in Herculaneum.  

Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
