Julie Schubert, who has worked in the Windsor C-1 School District for nearly two decades, has been promoted to director of curriculum and instruction, a newly created position for the district.

Schubert, the district’s curriculum coach, will take over the new job July 1 and will be paid an $82,500 annual salary. She currently is paid $64,900 a year.

The Board of Education voted unanimously during a March 22 executive session to promote her to the job.

Superintendent Jason King said Schubert was selected out of three applicants, all Windsor C-1 employees.

“We had some great applicants, but the board decided Dr. Schubert was the right applicant for the position,” he said. “Dr. Schubert has done a fantastic job as a curriculum coach for many years, by all accounts. Her experience as a curriculum coach really stood out for us. And, her passion for students and their success really stood out.”

Prior to becoming a curriculum coach, Schubert was a Windsor High School science teacher.

King said district leaders felt it was crucial to add the new director position.

“We felt the job needed to be created simply because we saw the need for increased focus on curriculum and instruction,” he said. “In order to do that at the level we needed, we felt an overarching director of curriculum and instruction would be a great benefit to our teachers and our students.”

Schubert said she enjoys working in the district.

“The Windsor C-1 School District has been my professional home for the past 19 years, but it is much more than a place of work,” she said. “Serving as a curriculum coach for the past 14 years provided me with invaluable knowledge and skills in curriculum development; organizational structure; instructional best practices; Missouri educational standards and policies; assessment implementation and analysis; instructional technology integration; and professional development design.”

Schubert said she hopes to continue promoting teamwork in the district.

“This educational leadership opportunity will continue to be based on faculty partnerships and teamwork, with the growth and success of our students at the heart of all our efforts,” Schubert said. “It is a professional honor to be selected as the Windsor C-1 School District curriculum director and, more importantly, allows me to continue serving this district that has given me so much.”

Schubert has a bachelor’s degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) in Springfield, a master’s degree in educational administration from Teachers College of Columbia University in New York City and a doctorate in educational leadership from St. Louis University.

Schubert, 46, lives in Festus with her husband, Jason, and their four children.

King said the district will now begin advertising for a curriculum coach to replace Schubert.
