On your mark, get set....
If you’re a runner, or just a recreational walker, this is the weekend for you, as two 5K runs and complementary one-mile walk-runs are scheduled, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday, and Arnold City Park will be the place for you, as that’s where both events will be held.
On Saturday (Oct. 22), the newly merged Relay for Life of Jefferson County will hold a 5K run-walk and one-mile walk from 8 a.m. to noon.
Money raised at the event will benefit the 2017 Relay for Life of Jefferson County. The three relays in Jefferson County – the Arnold, Southern Jefferson County and Northwest Jefferson County relays – have been combined into one relay event. It will be held May 6, 2017, at Fox High School.
Participants in Saturday’s race who raise $100 or more in donations or sponsorships qualify for a Relay for Life event T-shirt.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers overall and in each of seven age groups.
Registration by Friday costs $25 for the 5K and $15 for the one mile. Race day registration is $30 for 5K and $20 for the one-mile.

Arnold City Park, which is on Bradley Beach Road off Jeffco Boulevard near the Meramec River, again will be the place to be Sunday morning (Oct. 23), as the C-6 Educational Foundation will hold a 5K run at 9 a.m. and one-mile fun run-walk starting at 10 a.m.
Medals will be given to the top three finishers in the 5K in several age categories, with $100 and a trophy awarded to the top male and female 5K runners.
Entry fee is $20 for the 5K event and $10 for the run-walk.
The day also will include entertainment. The Arnold Police Department is set to bring an officer with a police dog and the Rock Community Fire Protection District plans to have firefighters and a firetruck. Kona Ice will sell frozen treats, the Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Arnold will hand out samples and coupons, and Noodles & Co. of south St. Louis County will hand out samples of macaroni and cheese.
It also will donate a raffle or auction prize worth $100 entitling the winner and guests to sample food and beverages at the restaurant.
There will be other fun activities.
Proceeds will benefit the foundation, a nonprofit organization that funds grants to benefit students throughout the Fox C-6 School District.
