The first-ever Taste of Tanglefoot food festival will be held from 6-11 p.m. Saturday (April 27) on Festus Main Street.
The event, sponsored by the Historic Tanglefoot Association, features food and drinks from eight local establishments – Pogolino’s Pizza and More, Main & Mill Brewing Co., Petit Paree Restaurant and Lounge, the Brick Bistro & Brew, Taytro’s Bar and Bistro and Pine Mountain Country Coffee House, all in Festus, as well as Crystal Tavern Grill, Rumors on Ice, both in Crystal City.
A limited number of tickets for $30 will be available at the door.
Lara Dane, co-owner of The Daisy Chain in Festus, is helping organize the event.
“The Tanglefoot association desires to develop the whole Main Street experience,” Dane said. “We want to bring together Crystal City and Festus. The Taste of Tanglefoot event focuses on restaurants, and we have great restaurants.”
Main Street will be closed from Mill Street to Adams Street for the event. Food and beverage booths will be set up along Main Street from Mill Street to Klein’s Custom Jewelers, 210 E. Main Street.
In addition, local artists will display and sell their creations at an art walk on Main Street.
“We will have lots of round tables set up in the street,” Dane said. “We have lights that will be strung across the street.”
The festival features two bands from local musician Dawn Weber – Naked Rock Fight and Dawn and the Electro Funk Assembly. The bands will perform near Fisher’s Barbershop Deluxe, 221 E. Main Street.
“The bands will be amazing,” Dane said. “We’ve had bands perform on Main Street before, but usually it’s been rock ‘n’ roll. This will be a little different. We will have a dance area set up.”
The menu includes Main & Mill’s giant pretzels; Petit Paree’s meat and potatoes; Taytro’s, jambalaya; Pogolino’s pizza; Crystal Tavern’s pulled pork sliders; Rumors’ handmade pasta with meatballs; Pine Mountain’s hand-dipped ice cream and coffee; and the Brick’s gooey butter cake.
Main & Mill also will sell beer and wine on the street, with all proceed benefiting the Tanglefoot Association.
Those who ordered tickets online may pick them up the night of the event at a will-call table. Or, tickets may be picked up earlier at the Daisy Chain.
