Valle Lake Community and the League of Watershed Guardians, a Missouri Stream Team association, will hold a hands-on educational opportunity on the bugs that live in our streams, rivers and lakes.

The program, held on Saturday (Feb. 8) is free for all ages.

Participants can see macroinvertebrates with digital microscopes, then head to a nearby creek for water quality monitoring demonstrations.

Topics include biological and chemical testing, water pollution and the Stream Team volunteer program.

Those attending should dress for the weather and bring foot gear if you want to get your feet wet.

Spaces is limited, and small children should be accompanied by an adult

The program will begin at 10:15 a.m. and last until 3 p.m. at 3806 Roberts Drive in the Valle Lake subdivision in De Soto. Bring a sack lunch.

Check-in will begin at 10 a.m.
