Festus R-6 Superintendent Link Luttrell settles a bet by smooching one of the stars of the 2018 donkey basketball game to benefit Festus Project Prom.

While the threat of the coronavirus has caused the cancellation of most professional and major college sports, at least for the time being, there's a game that's going on tonight (March 13) that should satisfy anyone's appetite to watch a competitive athletic competition.

Festus Project Prom will hold its fourth annual donkey basketball game at 7 p.m. in the Ralph B. Tynes Gymnasium at Festus High School, 501 Westwind Drive.

For the uninitiated, a donkey basketball game involves teams of students, staff members or both playing a standard game of basketball -- each riding on the back of a donkey. Some of the donkeys are more willing to play than others, which leads to some of the ensuing hijinks.

Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door.

Pay in advance to the school secretary or pay through Paypal at https://paypal.me/festusprojectprom or call Lynn McKenzie at 314-599-8266.
