Twin City Days 2019-1.jpg

It’s a little bit state fair, a little bit Woodstock. It’s a little like summer camp – with a dash of wedding reception and a pinch of carnival thrown in for fun.

It’s Twin City Days, which will mark its 25th year with a huge slate of fun activities that continues today (Sept. 6) and Saturday (Sept. 7).

Most activities are held in either Crystal City or Festus.

The festivities will include a number of contests and competitions along with exhibits, food and live music, culminating in a concert featuring the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

New events this year include “Stick it To Win It in a Minute” on Friday, a wine garden and a Bailey Road Sidewalk Showcase on Saturday and three performances Saturday by the Purina Pro Plan Performance Team. Saturday also will see the return of two popular events: sand volleyball and Kids Night Out.

Kirk Mooney has been on the planning committee since the first Twin City Days was held in 1995.

“We have 45 events – the most we’ve ever had,” he said. “The entire committee has been so great in pulling this event together. And I can’t say enough about our sponsors. “We’ve got a lot riding on this, and we want everyone to come out and enjoy.”
