Boil order

A boil order the Public Water Supply District 2 issued on Sunday (June 14) following a water main break on Old Sugar Creek Road in unincorporated Fenton is still in place today (June 15).

As of this morning, the water district said it had fixed the main but had to wait for water test results before lifting the order. The results were expected to be ready on Tuesday (June 16).

The water district, which is based in High Ridge, serves more than 10,000 customers in northern Jefferson County.

When a boil order is in place, customers need to boil water for at least three minutes before drinking it or using it to wash or prepare foods or to brush teeth.

Do not use ice from an automatic ice maker. Disinfect dishes and other items in water with 1 tsp of unscented bleach per gallon of water.

Typically, water for bathing does not need to be boiled.
