person walking

The C-6 Educational Foundation will hold its 15th annual fundraising walk-a-thon at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at the Fox High School athletic field, 751 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold.

Organizers are seeking students, staff and parents to walk in the event. Admission is $5 a person. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and goodie bag.

Hot dogs and refreshments will be available for purchase.

School teams, clubs and classrooms may raise money for their own groups by soliciting donations prior to the walk-a-thon and then taking part in the event. The foundation will keep the $5 entry fee for each walk-a-thon participant, but the groups may keep the donations they collect prior to the event.

The foundation provides teachers and schools with grants to fund projects, programs and supplies not covered by district funds. It also provides welfare grants to students in need.

Organizers also are seeking donations from local residents, organizations and businesses for the walk-a-thon.

Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City is the walk-a-thon’s main sponsor, donating $1,500.

School groups are asked to send their sign-up fees to the Central Office by Oct. 10. Other participants may pay the day of the event.

For more information about participating in or donating to the walk-a-thon, email foundation president Todd Scott at scott@fox.k12.mo.us.
