The Missouri edition of the “Remembering Our Fallen” traveling memorial at Festus Middle School is open for public viewing today (Nov. 12), even though the Festus R-6 School District cancelled classes due to inclement weather.
Today’s public session began at 4 p.m. and runs through 8 p.m. A second public viewing session is set for 4-8 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 14) at Festus Middle School, 1717 W. Main St.
Festus students will view the exhibit during class time this week, Nov. 11-15.
The memorial honors Missourians who have died during the War on Terror since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.
There is no admission fee to see the display, which features photos of more than 150 Missourians who have died since the 9/11 attacks. Among those featured are Jefferson Countians Andy Habsieger, Brandon Wallace and James Ide V, who were from Festus, and Matthew Walker, who lived in Hillsboro.
