A power outage along Hwy. A in Festus caused by a tractor-trailer snagging power lines and breaking a utility pole this afternoon (May 16) will last another three hours or so, Ameren Missouri spokeswoman Jenny Barth said at approximately 4:45 p.m.
The accident happened about 2 p.m. near Collins Drive and Veterans Boulevard, Barth said.
“We have a crew on site putting up a new pole,” she said. “Once the pole is set, we’ll be able to restore service.”
Barth said 150 customers remained without power at 4:45 p.m., but she did not know if the number had been higher when the accident first occurred.
The outage reportedly has snarled traffic along Hwy. A since traffic lights in the area are not working.
