Brides who attend this year’s Leader Wedding Fair have the chance to win a fabulous honeymoon vacation at a luxury resort.

Each bride may enter the random drawing at the fair, set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at the Quality Inn, 1200 W. Gannon Drive, in Festus.

One name will be drawn for the prize, courtesy of A-Plus Travel in Imperial. The winner will get a three-night, all-inclusive stay for two at the deluxe, adults-only Secrets Royal Beach Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

“That includes accommodations, all meals, drinks, daily activities, nightly entertainment and gratuities,” A-Plus owner Cheryl Forsythe said. “There is a limit of one entry per bride, and you do not have to be present to win.”

The winner will schedule the trip in the coming months with A-Plus staff.

“There are a couple of blackout dates, like Christmas or New Year’s, but it’s pretty flexible,” Forsythe said. “Airfare is not included, but we can definitely help them with that.”

Estimated value of the prize package is $3,100.

Forsythe, who has been with A-Plus for 26 years, said Punta Cana is the hot spot for travel at the moment.

“That area is just ‘it’ right now,” she said. “You don’t need a Covid test to go there. The employees are mostly vaccinated, they are very careful about taking temperatures and they have extensive cleaning protocols. There are places on the beach you can seclude yourself. There is plenty of space to move around and be with people or not as you choose. All-inclusive resorts are really worry-free; once you book it, you just pack and go and have a good time.”

Admission to the wedding fair costs $3 per person in advance and $5 at the gate, with proceeds going to Life on 2 Wheels, a local charity that provides bicycles to schools in hopes of encouraging children to ride.

Wedding-related businesses, representing everything from photos, cakes and food to jewelry and travel, will have booths at the fair. Additional services like financial institutions, home decor businesses, insurance and health care businesses will be represented as well. The fair also will include a cash bar, with mimosas, wine, beer and soft drinks.

The first 100 brides in the door will receive a special gift bag, and most vendors will offer attendance prizes and giveaways. Many vendors will have special offers and discount packages exclusively available to fair attendees.
