Two Columbia residences were struck by gunfire in a Saturday afternoon shots fired incident.

Just before 2 p.m. Saturday, Boone County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to investigate a report of someone having a firearm in the 4300 block of West Bethany Drive, according to a statement from Boone County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Capt. Brian Leer.

Approximately nine minutes later, Boone County joint Communications began receiving phone calls stating multiple shots had been fired in the 4300 block of West Bethany Drive, according to the statement.

Upon arrival deputies did not locate anyone with injuries. However, they discovered two residences in the 4300 block of West Bethany Drive had been struck by gunfire, according to the statement.

During the investigation, deputies determined a male subject was on foot in the area and yelling at someone before drawing a firearm and shooting multiple rounds toward the residences that were struck, according to the statement.

The investigation is ongoing and no suspects had been arrested at the time the statement was sent.
