The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that a portion of St. Johns Church Road in Arnold will have daily closures for approximately two weeks starting Monday, June 16.
The road will be closed at its intersection with Jeffco Boulevard so crews may mill and place asphalt where the two roads intersect. The closures will be from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Monday, June 30, MoDOT reported.
St. Johns Church Road will remain open where it intersects with Richardson Road during the two-week period, the report said.
The work is part of a $2.5 million project to improve the area where St. Johns Church Road, Linderhof Drive and Jeffco Boulevard intersect and to improve safety at the intersection of Hwy. 61-67 and Miller Road East just south of the Arnold city limit, MoDOT reported.
MoDOT hired Pavement Solutions for the project that calls for the addition of a left turn lane on St. Johns Church Road for vehicles turning north onto Jeffco Boulevard. A left-turn lane will be added to Linderhof Drive, which is across Jeffco Boulevard from St. Johns Church Road, for vehicles to turn south onto Jeffco Boulevard, according to MoDOT.
Crosswalks will be added across the streets, and MoDOT will be responsible for maintaining the traffic signals and the crosswalk, according to the agreement the Arnold City Council approved with MoDOT in November 2023.
MoDOT also will align Miller Road East with the entrance of the Dollar General store, 4212 Jeffco Blvd., and three new left-turn lanes – one on the highway, another on Miller Road East and the third on the Dollar General entrance – will be constructed.
New traffic signals have been installed where St. Johns Church Road, Linderhof Drive and Jeffco Boulevard intersect, but MoDOT did not have a date for when the traffic signals will be turned on, spokeswoman Rachel Sudduth said.
The entire project involving the two intersections is expected to be completed later this summer, according to MoDOT’s website, modot.org.
