Those planning to take their children door to door in search of candy for Halloween on Thursday (Oct. 31) need to be aware that several cities in the southern half of Jefferson County have set hours when people are allowed to trick or treat.
■ Crystal City, De Soto, Festus and Pevely all allow trick-or-treating from 6-9 p.m. Both Crystal City and Festus sound an alarm to alert the start of trick-or-treating in their borders.
■ Herculaneum’s trick-or-treating period is 5:30-9 p.m.
■ Hillsboro’s time for trick-or-treating is 6-8 p.m.
Arnold and Byrnes Mill in the northern and western portions of the county do not have designated trick-or-treating periods.
