Remember your favorite car? Maybe it was a sleek sportster with that fabulous new-car smell. Or, perhaps it was a $400 beater you bought from your neighbor’s cousin.
For some, maybe your all-time favorite ride wasn’t a car at all. Maybe it was the Schwinn bike you won in a childhood fishing derby, a tractor, a mule, a Harley or the riding mower that belonged to your grandpa.
Whatever it was, we want you to tell us about it.
Jefferson County and Eureka residents of all ages are encouraged to share memories of their favorite set of wheels in the “My Best Ride” photo contest, sponsored by Grand Times, Leader Publications’ magazine for senior citizens.
Readers are welcome to send a photo of their “best ride” along with no more than 300 words explaining why it’s your favorite. Three winners will be drawn at random from among all the entries to win cash prizes – $100 for the first name drawn, $75 for the second and $50 for the third.
The deadline to submit an entry in the contest is 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14.
The Oct. 27 issue of Grand Times will feature as many entries as space allows. That issue also will include information about the Eureka Senior Expo, set for Wednesday, Nov 2, at The Timbers.
Photo contest entries should include the following information:
■ Photographer’s name, age, address and phone number.
■ The date and place the photo was taken and by whom.
■ The names of any people in the photo.
■ The make, model or type of vehicle and how you obtained it.
■ Any other information about the photo that explains why it is memorable.
Send entries to: My Best Ride, c/o Leader Publications, P.O. Box 159, Festus, 63028; drop them off at the Leader office, 503 N. Second St., in Festus; or email them to news@leaderpublications.biz.
Photos accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope will be mailed back; others will be held for pickup.
