A second Dollar Tree store is coming to Crystal City, city officials reported.
In addition, there’s a sign posted in a window of a building that used to house an Aldi’s grocery store in northern Crystal City that proclaims, “Dollar Tree Coming Soon!”
Dollar Tree officials did not respond to requests for information. However, Crystal City Administrator Jason Eisenbeis confirmed that the company indicated it is moving into the building at 2300 Truman Blvd.
“They had hopes of opening by Thanksgiving,” Eisenbeis said. “However, I’ve heard they probably won’t make that. I understand they are keeping the current location open, as well.
“Obviously, we are happy to see things open up on the north end of town to better serve the citizens in that area.”
Crystal City’s original Dollar Tree is at 732 S. Truman Blvd., in the southern part of the city.
Richard Cox, Crystal City building commissioner, said renovations are underway on the new Dollar Tree store.
“We issued the permits on it and they’re working on it,” Cox said.
Dollar Tree, a national chain, bills itself as a “discount variety store” on its website.
