Izzy Imig
Izzy Imig has resigned from the Rockwood School District Board of Education and announced she is no longer seeking re-election to the school board following recent allegations that she stole from Target stores in Ballwin and Chesterfield.
Since it’s too late to have Ismig’s name removed from the April 8 ballot, she will still be listed as one of the three candidates seeking two open seats on the board.
The Rockwood Board of Education issued a written statement today, March 12, announcing Imig’s resignation, as well as her decision against seeking the school board seat in April. The announcement said Imig, 41, of Wildwood resigned on Tuesday, March 11.
“We have received notification from board director Izzy Imig that she has resigned as a board director as of March 11 for health and personal reasons,” the board said. “Ms. Imig has also indicated that she no longer wants to be considered a candidate for the April 8 board election.”
“With the election only weeks away, it is not possible to remove Ms. Imig’s name from the ballot, but we wanted to inform you of her resignation and withdrawal from the race.”
Mary LaPak, Rockwood’s chief communications officer, said the remaining school board members will not appoint a new member to fill Imig’s seat prior to the April election.
“We respect her privacy and wish her all the best in her future endeavors, and we extend our sincere gratitude to Ms. Imig for her service and dedication to the Rockwood School District,” the board said in its announcement today.
Imig was arrested on March 4 at the Target store, 40 THF Blvd., in Chesterfield for allegedly failing to scan a vacuum cleaner at a self-checkout register, according to the Chesterfield Police Department’s crime summary on its website.
She also was accused on March 7 of stealing from the Target store, 15025 Manchester Road, in Ballwin, according to the Ballwin Police Department.
Ballwin Police spokeswoman Shannon Schaper did not provide details about what Imig allegedly stole at the store in Ballwin. Schaper also said Imig was not arrested, but instead was issued a summons to appear in Ballwin Municipal Court for alleged stealing.
Imig did not return a phone call for comment today.
She was first elected to the Rockwood school board in 2022. Her term expires in April, and she previously filed to run for reelection before changing her mind about not wanting to retain the seat.
Mara Vorachek-Warren and Sarah Boyer are the other two candidates who will be listed on the ballot.
