Windsor C-1 officials have hired Mike Rickermann as the district’s new assistant superintendent.
Rickermann, who previously worked for the Windsor School District for nearly two decades, will replace Jeff Buscher, who is retiring at the end of this school year.
Windsor Superintendent Joel Holland also is retiring June 30.
Jason King, the district’s incoming superintendent, said Rickermann was selected from eight applicants, and the Board of Education voted unanimously in a March 23 closed meeting to hire him.
King, currently the superintendent of the Bismarck R-5 School District in Franklin County, participated in the search for the new assistant superintendent.
“Dr. Rickermann came highly recommended,” said King, who was hired Jan. 24. “During our research, we learned how passionate he is about kids, and he has a great ability to build relationships with students and staff.”
Rickermann, 48, a Windsor High School graduate, will be paid about $135,000 next school year as Windsor’s assistant superintendent.
Buscher’s annual salary is $154,770.
Rickermann currently is director of student options and alternative programs for the Farmington R-7 School District, earning a $103,000 annual salary.
Farmington R-7 has a student enrollment of about 3,800, while Windsor C-1 has just more than 3,000 students enrolled.
Both Rickermann and King will begin their new job with Windsor on July 1.
Rickermann said he looks forward to returning to Windsor.
“I always aspired to work in a central office, and Windsor is pretty special to me,” he said. “I graduated from there in 1992. I actually worked for the district for 18 years in several different roles. I was a high school science teacher and a varsity boys basketball coach for nine years. I was assistant principal and the athletic director at the high school, and I was a middle school principal.
“I left to become principal of
De Soto High School for four years and have worked in my position at Farmington the last four years.”
Rickermann said one benefit to coming back to Windsor will be a shorter commute from his Festus home.
Rickermann has a bachelor’s degree from Iowa Wesleyan University in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, a master’s in education administration from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar and a doctorate in education administration from Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis County.
