The Missouri Department of Transportation will celebrate the completion of two intersection projects on Jeffco Boulevard in Arnold and Hwy. 61-67 just south of the city.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the St. John’s Lutheran School pavilion, 3517 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold for the four-way traffic signals recently completed on the road. The ceremony is open to the public.
MoDOT constructed four-way signals where St. Johns Church Road, Linderhof Drive and Jeffco Boulevard intersect and where Hwy. 61-67 and Miller Road East intersect.
“These signals are a wonderful addition to the safety on U.S. Route 61/67,” said Jordan Dalaviras, MoDOT’s Franklin and Jefferson counties area liaison. “These are not only a safety improvement for vehicles, but with collaboration from the community, they are also an improvement for pedestrians with the facilities that were added from comments received on the project.”
MoDOT paid Pavement Solutions $2.5 million to complete the project, according to modot.org. The project began in June 2024 and was completed last month.
A left-turn lane already existed on Jeffco Boulevard at the intersection with St. Johns Church Road, and MoDOT added a left turn lane on St. Johns Church Road for vehicles turning north onto Jeffco Boulevard.
A left-turn lane was added to Linderhof Drive, which is across Jeffco Boulevard from St. Johns Church Road, for vehicles to turn south onto Jeffco Boulevard.
Crosswalks also were added across the streets.
MoDOT will be responsible for maintaining the traffic signals and the crosswalk, according to the agreement the Arnold City Council approved with MoDOT in November 2023.
MoDOT also aligned Miller Road East with the entrance of the Dollar General store, 4212 Jeffco Blvd., and three new left-turn lanes – one on the highway, another on Miller Road East and the third on the Dollar General entrance – were constructed.
In addition, a right-turn lane was built on Hwy. 61-67 for vehicles to turn onto Miller Road East.
