Residents who live in Byrnes Mill and the Twin Rivers neighborhood along the Hwy. 141 corridor may leave flood-damaged materials at the curb for pickup on Thursday (Jan. 14).
In addition, another multi-agency resource center event to help flood victims has been scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 16), at the Fox C-6 Service Center, 849 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold.
About 20 agencies will be at the resource center event offering information about services they can provide to residents whose homes were damaged by the recent historic flooding in the area.
The American Red Cross, Catholic Charities and Lutheran Children and Family Services are sponsoring the event and representatives from those groups will be there to offer assistance.
Other faith-based, government and humanitarian organizations will be there, too. Some of the services the groups offer include debris removal, housing assistance, insurance and legal guidance and food stamp replacement.
The curbside pickup of flood-damaged items is part of the state and federal Operation Recovery program designed to help people affected by the recent historic flooding in the area.
Items that will be picked up include limbs, branches, plants and brush; white goods, like furnaces, air conditioning units, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, washers and dryers, and water heaters; electronics such as computers and printers, TVs, phones and microwaves; household hazardous waste, like automotive oil, paint, cleaning supplies, pesticides, batteries, propane tanks and aerosol cans; construction and demolition debris, such as carpet, drywall, lumber, plumbing, doors, windows, furniture, mattresses, clothes, toys and other personal property; and sandbags.
Items that will not be picked up include household trash or anything in bags; cars, boats, ATVS or mobile homes; commercial property; or debris that contractors leave behind.
The items left at the curb must be separated into different piles depending on if they’re vegetative, white goods, electronics, household hazardous waste, construction and demolition debris, or sandbags.
Crews will make more than one pass to pick up items in the various areas.
