QuikTrip’s new Eureka location is slated to be open for business April 22, company officials said.
The gas station’s new address is at 255 Sommer Lane near the Hwy. 109 intersection with I-44.
The new store was built on a lot behind the old location, which closed on Nov. 4.
QuikTrip real estate project manager Gwen Keen said the site will feature a 5,000-square-foot convenience store, 1,000 square feet larger than the previous one.
Keen also said there will be 20 fueling stations, the same number as before, but there will be a different layout for the pumps to make access easier.
“We’re really not adding that much square footage as much as just the overall building structure and layout is different,” Keen said. “It’s deeper as opposed to longer.”
The company bought an old car wash in 2019 and then demolished it to free up room for the construction.
Sommer Lane, which is between QuikTrip and the old car wash, will be shifted west to line up with the entrance and exit to the commuter parking lot on the north side of East Fourth Street.
Sommer Lane will still provide access to the Walgreens store, which is south of the new gas station.
In the same area, the empty lot at Fourth Street and East Street will be the site of a new McDonald’s restaurant. When that is built, the McDonald’s at 12 Hilltop Village Center Drive off Fifth Street will close, company officials have said.
McDonald’s officials did not respond to a request for more information about its new restaurant.
