Crystal City Ward 4 Councilman Ken Duncan invites the public to tour a potential site for a new Darrell “Hickey” White Park at 6 p.m. Monday (Oct. 5).
Duncan has proposed that a 5-acre site along County Road south of the Twin City Little League fields be developed as a park to replace Ward 1’s former “Hickey” White Park, which was on Crystal Avenue on the far southern edge of the city.
That park was prone to flooding, and the restrooms were not ADA (American Disabilities Act)-compliant, so the park board stopped maintaining it last year and removed playground equipment there.
The Twin City Levee Commission owns the property that Duncan proposed replace the old “Hickey” White Park.
“We’ll meet on County Road (near the potential new park site),” said Duncan, who represents the city on the Twin City Levee Commission. “Anyone who wants to come, come on down.”
