Eureka Police are investigating the theft of a workbench from an unoccupied apartment unit in the 200 block of Beverly Street, Capt. David Wilson said.
The bench was stolen between Sept. 8 and Sept. 13 from a 75-year-old Eureka man, who was in the process of moving from one unit to another on Beverly Street. A window at the unoccupied apartment was left open to air out the unit, and the screen had been forced open, the report said.
Police found a skillet and fork, which appeared to be used, in the sink of the apartment, and a lid to the skillet was sent to the lab to attempt to obtain fingerprints, according to the report.
The workbench is solid wood with a stainless-steel back, and it was still in a box. It is valued at $250, the report said.
As of Sept. 26, there were no suspects and the bench had not been recovered, Wilson said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
