A woman was recently booked at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro on charges for drug possession and felony stealing. She allegedly stole items from the Kohl’s department store, 2150 Michigan Ave., in Arnold and was found with substances that tested positive for fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to court documents.
On July 13, Dana Michelle Powell, 31, of St. Louis was booked at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro. As of Monday, July 20, she was being held on a $2,000 bond, court and jail records show.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Powell with felony possession of a controlled substance and felony stealing. She also has been charged with felony counts of second-degree drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree assault, stealing and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia in St. Louis, court documents said.
According to a probable-cause statement field by Arnold Police, Simms allegedly stole 33 items worth a combined $1,037.93 on Aug. 14, 2025, from Kohl’s. When she was stopped outside of the store, officers also found suspected illegal drugs in her backpack.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol on Nov. 19, 2025, identified the substances found in the backpack, the report said.
On May 31, Powell was arrested in St. Louis after she allegedly assaulted a Target employee. The employee had stopped Powell outside the store because the employee believed Powell had stolen more than $500 worth of items, the case’s probable-cause statement said.
Powell allegedly shoved the employee and ran away. Police arrested Powell later that day, and an officer allegedly found substances in Powell’s purse that tested positive for fentanyl and cocaine, the report said.
