A 34-year-old St. Louis woman was arrested after she allegedly drove a station wagon into a tent with a man inside sleeping at a Eureka-area campground. The woman just missed the 39-year-old St. Louis man, and he was not injured, Eureka Police reported.

Officers got a call around 12:15 p.m. Oct. 2 about the woman, in a 1999 Saturn station wagon, driving into the tent at the St. Louis West Historic Route 66 KOA Holiday campground, 18475 Hwy. 66. The woman allegedly appeared intoxicated and had various explanations for her actions, the report said.

Initially, she told officers she drove into the tent because the man had her money and threatened not to pay her. Later, however, she allegedly said she had driven to the campground to “make love” with the man but lost her vision and was trying to remove her contact as she drove closer to the camp site, causing her to run into the tent, according to the report.

The man allegedly told officers he and the woman previously had been arguing, and she left before returning and driving into the tent. The tent, which appeared to be destroyed, was valued at about $100, Eureka Police reported.

The woman was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where an officer allegedly found a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in her purse. She was booked and released pending the application for warrants, the report said.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the woman through St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree domestic assault, DWI and possession of marijuana, Lt. Michael Werges said.
