A woman allegedly called in a false report about a possible shooter at the Walmart, 650 S. Truman Blvd. in Festus Walmart, 650 S. Truman Blvd., in Festus on Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 29). The incident happened about 4:35 p.m., after the woman had a disagreement with the man she claimed was threatening to shoot people at the store, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
“It was an argument between a man and a woman and the woman called saying he had a gun and was going to shoot people,” Lewis said. “We reviewed the video … it didn’t happen.”
Numerous police officers responded to the scene.
Lewis said today (Jan. 31) that no arrests were made, but police are investigating the incident and trying to determine whether to seek charges against the woman for making a false report.
