woman in handcuffs

A 47-year-old Fenton woman accused of stealing a ring worth almost $2,000 from an Arnold pawn shop returned to the store four days after the alleged theft and was arrested after the owner called authorities, Arnold Police reported.

The woman, who is described as a frequent customer of Pawn King, 520 Jeffco Blvd., was trying on rings at about 1 p.m. Feb. 23, and when a store employee was distracted, she allegedly put the ring in her purse and left the store. The ring was valued at $1,995, the report said.

After police went to the suspect’s Fenton home, the woman returned to the pawn shop at about 2:30 p.m. Feb. 27, and she allegedly denied stealing the ring but offered to pay for the stolen merchandise, according to the report.

The woman was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released pending application for warrants, according to the report.

Arnold Police will seek a felony stealing charge against her through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.

As of March 7, the ring had not been returned, he said.
