Festus homeowners who moved from their house in late August returned to it Monday (Sept. 11) and found that electrical wiring and copper piping had been ripped out and stolen.

The victims moved from the home in the 200 block of Garbarino Street on Aug. 25 and reported the theft about noon on Monday, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.

“When they came back to the house, the lights did not turn on,” Lewis said. “They saw that someone had taken the wiring and copper piping.”

Lewis said the victims estimated the value of the wiring at $8,000 and the copper piping at $4,000. In addition, they said an air conditioning unit was damaged and estimated that damage at $360.

“It looks like entry was made through an unsecured door,” Lewis said.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
