Eureka Police are trying to identify a man reportedly seen in surveillance video using credit and debit cards that had been reported stolen. He allegedly used the cards at Walmart, 131 Eureka Towne Center Drive, to purchase $1,538.65 worth of items, police reported.
A 58-year-old Wildwood man told police he arrived at about noon Oct. 9 at Kircher Park, 25 Williams Road, where he went for a run. He said he believed he had locked his car doors after arriving, the report said.
However, at about 1 p.m., he received a notification that his debit card had been used twice at Walmart to purchase $1,022.80 worth of items and his credit card had been used to buy $515.85 worth of items. He then discovered the cards had been taken from his wallet, according to the report.
There were no signs that someone had broken into the car, and it is believed it may have been left unlocked, Eureka Police reported.
As of Oct. 19, the man had not been identified, Lt. Michael Werges said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
