The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is trying to find a Hillsboro-area man who was last seen last month at a friend's home. Wesley Moser Jr., 43, walked away from 9217 Goldman Road northeast of Hillsboro on May 1 and has been missing ever since, authorities reported.
Bonnie Moser, Wesley Moser Jr.'s mother, said she first learned her son was missing on May 6 and called the Sheriff's Office. Grant Bissell, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office, said a missing persons case was opened on May 7.
Bissell also said the Sheriff’s Office used a drone on May 16 to search for him in the area between highways 21 and Z near the Sandy Creek Covered Bridge State Historic Site.
The Sheriff’s Office also teamed up with members of the Gateway Search Dogs group on May 19 to search for Moser, Bissell said.
As of today, the Sheriff’s Office does not suspect anything criminal led to Moser’s disappearance, Bissell said.
He said Detective Hollie Lunsford has been assigned to the case and is in near daily contact with Bonnie Mosser about the case.
Bissell said the Sheriff’s Office does not plan to perform another large-scale search for Moser at this time. However, he said Moser’s mother is trying to arrange another search of the area between the highways, and she has been asked to inform Lunsford of any clues that may be found during the search.
In a June 11 Facebook post, Bonnie Moser asked anyone with surveillance cameras in the area between the highways to share any video that might show her son.
“I want to make it really clear there is nothing criminal that (Lunsford) is looking at. This is strictly a missing persons investigation,” Bissell said.
The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information about Moser’s location to call Lunsford at 636-797-5477.
