Victor Anthony Schnieders, 32, of Imperial has been charged for at least his fifth driving while intoxicated offense since 2018, according to court documents.
Schnieders on Nov. 7 was charged with chronic DWI, a class C felony that is punishable by three to 10 years in prison; and driving with a revoked license, a class A misdemeanor that carries a penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000, court records show.
As of Monday, Nov. 17, he was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents said.
As a chronic offender, Schnieders will be required to serve a minimum of two years in prison, according to a complaint filed by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Schnieders was found guilty of DWI in November 2018, January 2020 and March 2021 in Jefferson County, and he was found guilty of DWI in November 2019 in St. Louis, court documents show.
A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped Schnieders on Sept. 6 near the intersection of West Outer and Seckman roads in Imperial. Schnieders was stopped for allegedly failing to maintain a single lane, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.
Schnieders agreed to perform field sobriety tests, but he stopped after allegedly failing to maintain his stance while being instructed on how to perform one of the tests, the report said.
When the deputy learned Schnieders’ driver’s license was revoked, Schnieders allegedly said, “I haven’t had a license since I was 21,” according to the report.
