Festus Police are investigating vandalism at the Festus R-6 School District’s Tiger Stadium along Sunshine Drive.
Chief Tim Lewis said the vandalism was reported Aug. 2 but could have occurred anytime over the previous few weeks.
“We were contacted by the maintenance crew about mesh bleacher screens; somebody went through and slashed the screens,” Lewis said. “It happened sometime between July 19 and Aug. 2.”
He said the damage to the screens, which are affixed to fences and decorated with images, was estimated at $3,600.
“They have to be replaced,” Lewis said.
He said the stadium’s surveillance cameras did not capture the images of the vandals.
On Aug. 9, Lewis said no arrests had been made.
