The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating who stole a van that was parked near Winter Park in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton. The van was recovered the same day it was stolen in St. Louis County, authorities reported.
A woman on June 23 told deputies she parked her 2010 Dodge Caravan in the 1300 block of Corisande Road near Winter Park. She said she left the van unlocked with the keys inside before walking to the Meramec River, the report said.
When she returned to where she parked, the van was gone, according to the report.
The woman was able to use a GPS locater to track ear buds she left in the van, and the St. Louis County Police found the van abandoned, the report said.
As of July 2, no suspects had been identified, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the van’s theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
