The Festus School District's Tiger Stadium

Someone tried to break into the concession stand at the Festus School District's Tiger Stadium.

Festus Police are investigating an attempted break-in at the Festus R-6 activities stadium concession stand. The culprits failed to get into the concession stand at the stadium, 501 Westwind Drive, but damaged a lock and door on the building, Police Chief Tim Lewis said.

Lewis said the incident happened April 23, but school district officials did not discover the attempted break-in until May 4 and did not report it until May 6.

“They wanted to review the video from when it occurred,” Lewis said.

He said the surveillance footage showed two people trying to break into the concession stand at about 12:30 a.m.

“It looks like a white male and a white female – both thin and wearing hoodies – climbed the fence (surrounding the stadium) and tried to break into the football concession stand, apparently with a drill,” Lewis said. “There are drill markings on the lock. They could not get in and left.”

He said the damage to the lock and door was estimated at $300. Anyone with information is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
