Two Fenton-area men allegedly stole guns, ammunition, accessories

Two men, who live in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton, allegedly stole six guns, ammunition and firearm accessories from a home in the 1000 block of Ginger Root Drive in the Fenton area.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office recovered the items at one of the men’s homes, according to court documents.

Tyler Quentin Bryan, 24, and Jeffrey David Reynolds, 21, were charged Nov. 25 with first-degree burglary, a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years in prison, court records show.

The two were arrested Nov. 24, and as of Nov. 26, they were each being held on $25,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents said.

The Sheriff’s Office was called about 7 a.m. Nov. 24 after a man returned to his home and found the back sliding glass door open. The man said a DPMS Oracle AR-15 rifle with a Pittney scope, an AK-47-type rifle with a brown wood stock, a Ruger 10/22 rifle with a black polymer thumbhole stock, bull barrel and a 12- to 16-inch scope, a Mossberg 500 shotgun with pistol grip and flashlight, a Ruger 10/222 riffle with a brown stock and Trijicon ACOG scope and a Rock Island Armory shotgun with a red-dot sight were stolen from a safe, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.

The man also told deputies that gun-cleaning kits, trigger kits and approximately 10,000 rounds of ammunition were stolen, the report said.

Deputies quickly located Bryan and Reynolds after talking with the alleged victim. Bryan and Reynolds allegedly admitted to stealing the items, according to the report.

They said they first took the guns to Bryan’s home, while Reynolds went to get a vehicle. They said they then loaded the items into the vehicle and drove to Reynolds’ home, where the guns, ammunition and accessories were hidden under Reynolds’ bed, the report said.

Reynolds allowed deputies to search his home. The deputies allegedly found the guns, ammunition and firearm accessories that matched descriptions provided by the alleged victim, according to the report.

The estimated value of the stolen items was $11,980, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.

The items were returned to the alleged victim, according to the probable-cause statement.
