A 51-year-old woman and a 45-year-old woman, both of Arnold, were arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine and heroin after they were stopped for reportedly trying to steal jewelry from the Walmart Supercenter, 2201 Michigan Ave. The incident happened about 5:20 p.m. Jan. 6, Arnold Police reported.
Officers stopped the women outside the store and allegedly found the stolen jewelry and drugs in the women’s purses and pockets. The 51-year-old woman allegedly had a substance that appeared to be meth, and the 45-year-old allegedly had a substance that appeared to be heroin. They both allegedly were found with drug paraphernalia, the report said.
In addition, the 51-year-old was wanted on outstanding warrants from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and from Clayton and Richmond Heights police for traffic violations, according to the report.
The 45-year-old was wanted on warrants from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Louis County Police Department for possession of a controlled substance, the report said.
Both women were arrested, taken to the Police Station, booked and held for the other law enforcement agencies that wanted them. Depending on lab results from the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against both women through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
As of Jan. 7, Arnold Police were waiting to get a value of the jewelry allegedly stolen from the store to decide if it would seek misdemeanor or felony stealing charges against the women, Wooldridge said.
