Two 21-year-old Arnold women who are involved in a romantic relationship were arrested after one of them allegedly used pepper spray on the other. Then, the alleged victim of that domestic assault reportedly interfered during the arrest of her alleged assailant, Arnold Police reported.

Officers got a call around 9:30 p.m. Sept. 14 about a domestic dispute at an apartment building in the 1500 block of Avion Ridge Drive. The alleged assault victim appeared to have redness around her eyes, shoulders and hands from the pepper spray, the report said.

The alleged victim told police her roommate also had hit and bit her. The alleged victim was holding a pair of eyebrow scissors, which she told police she had because she was afraid the other woman would try to attack her, according to the report.

When the officers entered the apartment, they smelled pepper spray and arrested the alleged assailant. During the arrest, the alleged victim allegedly kept approaching the officers and her roommate, and eventually one of the officers restrained the alleged victim and arrested her for interfering with an arrest. The alleged victim already was wanted by Pacific Police on a misdemeanor warrant for assaulting a police officer, Arnold Police reported.

Officers did not know what led to the dispute between the women, the report said.

The women were taken to the Police Station, where the alleged assailant was booked and released pending application for warrants and the alleged victim was held for Pacific Police, according to the report.

Arnold Police will seek charges against the alleged assailant through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for third-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest, and they will seek a charge against the alleged victim for interfering with arrest, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
