Chainsaws and climbing gear valued at about $3,000 were stolen from four trucks parked on a secured lot in the 2600 block of Hwy. 21A west of Festus. The trucks and tools belong to Shade Tree Service Co. of Fenton, and the lot belongs to Ameren, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Between about 3:30 p.m. Jan. 4 and 6:45 a.m. Jan. 5, someone cut open a fence surrounding the lot and then cut locks on four of the tree service company’s trucks and stole the tools and equipment. An estimate for the damage to the fence and locks was not provided, the report said.
As of Jan. 14, none of the stolen items had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
