De Soto Police are looking for the person who stole tools and snack cakes from a construction trailer parked at Vineland Elementary School on Monday night (Feb. 15).
Police were called to the school, 650 Vineland School Road, at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning where they found that a lock had been pried off a trailer and its door damaged.
The thief stole miscellaneous tools that belonged to a construction company and two of its workers.
“We’re dealing with three different victims here,” Sgt. Mike McMunn said. “We’re working together to get the approximate value stolen from each victim.”
Snack cakes that were stored in the trailer were also missing, McMunn said.
“They went as far as to take them as well,” he said.
The De Soto School District is adding five classrooms to Vineland Elementary, as well as a gymnasium and an elevator, funded by a bond issue voters approved in April 2015. Anyone with information about the incident should call the De Soto Police Department at 636-586-3326.
