A 25-year-old Pevely man is suspected of supplying illegal drugs to three Jefferson County Jail inmates who had to be taken to an area hospital Sunday night (April 4) after they were found unconscious in one of the jail’s dorms, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At about 10:30 p.m., a 57-year-old De Soto man and a 47-year-old St. Louis man were found unconscious following apparent overdoses in the dorm at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro. They were stabilized by jail medical staff and taken to the hospital for further treatment, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.
Shortly after dealing with that situation, a 24-year-old Fenton man in the same dorm also was found unconscious due to an apparent overdose and was taken to the hospital, Bissell said.
The inmate from Pevely suspected of supplying the illegal narcotics was in jail following an April 3 arrest for suspicion of receiving stolen property, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a defaced firearm and a probation violation. As of today (April 5), he had not been charged with a crime, Bissell said.
The inmate from De Soto was arrested on Nov. 7, 2020, and on Nov. 8, 2020, he was charged with first-degree burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm and first-degree tampering, Bissell said.
The inmate from St. Louis was arrested March 1 for suspicion of forgery and resisting arrest. As of today, he had not been charged with a crime, Bissell said.
The inmate from Fenton was arrested in October 2020, and on Oct. 14, 2020, he was charged with first-degree assault of a special victim, armed criminal action, first-degree tampering, resisting arrest for a felony and first-degree trespassing, Bissell said.
He did not release any of the inmates’ names.
Bissell said the Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
