Three Eureka men were arrested after allegedly stealing a teenager’s bag that had been in the trunk of a car that was parked at a Eureka subdivision’s park. The 17-year-old Eureka teen said one of the men hit him, but the alleged assailant has not been identified, Eureka Police reported.

The teenager told police he had driven a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt to Muir Park, in the Hilltop subdivision near the intersection of Meramec Boulevard and Edward Drive, at about 7:45 p.m. Sept. 27 to meet a friend to play basketball.

The teen said a 2000 Honda CR-V parked next to him, and someone from the SUV got into the Cobalt and started hitting him. The teenager said he was ordered to open the trunk, and two other men took a bag from the car’s trunk, the report said.

The three men then got into the SUV and drove away. However, the teenager was able to record the license plate on the CR-V, according to the report.

Eureka Police reported the teenager had bruises on his face, cuts on his nose and a chipped front tooth. The teen was taken to the hospital by his mother, where he was treated and released, according to the report.

While one officer was talking to the teenager, another officer responded to a call at a nearby apartment complex after a report of men throwing a bag from an SUV. The officer recovered the bag, which belonged to the alleged victim, the report said.

The bag was returned to the teenager, Eureka Police reported.

Officers were able to trace the license plate to a home in the 400 block of Williams Road, where they found the CR-V. When the officer spoke with the home’s residents, they were told the SUV’s owner was at a home in the Elk Run subdivision, according to the report.

Officers found a 19-year-old Eureka man, who the SUV was registered to, sitting outside a home in the Elk Run subdivision. When the officers asked the man if he knew why they were there, he allegedly said, “Yeah, because of the fight,” the report said.

The officers arrested the man, Eureka Police reported.

The officers then were able to locate two more men, a 20-year-old and 22-year-old both of Eureka, who allegedly were involved in the incident at the park at another home in the city. They arrested both of those men, and the 20-year-old allegedly told police he had been in an altercation with the teenager in Chesterfield prior to the incident at the park, the report said.

The three men were taken to the Police Station, where they were booked and released pending application for warrants. Lt. Michael Werges said Eureka Police will seek a second-degree robbery charge against each of the three men through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
